Pretty in Pink

I bought these pretty pink cases and decided to practice my photography skills!  And to eat some cake of course.

The cases speak for the design of these cakes – and please send your food photography tips that I and others can try out as well!

  1. I think those look lovely! The frosting swirls out of the holders is so pretty 🙂

I’m definitely a photography newbie myself, but one thing that I’ve read over and over again on many blog posts with photography tips is that you should use as much natural light as possible and it’s best if the light comes in, hitting the subject from the side (i.e. you don’t want the light source coming from behind the cupcake or in front of it). Also, the rule of thirds applies to any kind of photography, or so I’ve heard 🙂

I like the perspective in the last shot a lot! 🙂

    1. I would love to get more natural light into my cupcake photos, but I usually end up finishing the bake late at night once I’ve finished classes and then they are gone the next day! And unfortunately in Scotland the natural light is pretty dull and grey most of the time, so I tried to use lamplight in these photographs : ) I forgot about the rule of thirds; I may have to think about that after my next bake!
Thanks for the feedback! : )
