I can’t decide if this has been a productive weekend or not. I didn’t do any of the things I wanted to do, but I did a lot of other things instead…
I really wanted to go to the Meadows Festival, but it was called off due to high winds on the Saturday. So I didn’t go to that. I also wanted to do a big chunk of my thesis…but that didn’t really happen either. I meant to go to the open air cinema in the Grassmarket too….Instead, I took out the recycling, packed some bags for charity, baked cookies, went on a night out, and then started watching Gossip Girl for the first time ever (this could become a problem).
So I had never heard of turtle cookies before, and apparently they are a New Orleans treat. This recipe comes again from ‘Life is Sweet’ by Hummingbird Bakery.
I should have known better than to send a picture of these to my scientist friends. Yes, I am aware that turtles are supposed to have fins at the front too, but these are simplistic bakes! Either way I think they look really cute; taste pretty good too!
They didn’t however taste as good as my Mum’s strawberry cupcakes that I had the joy of eating on Friday…
I went home for a visit, and my Mum had baked perfect shortbread, a fruit loaf and these squidgy, heavenly cupcakes. I could devour another one right now if it was put in front of me!
